The "HIPAA letter" from my website is NOT appropriate in your situation. Have you tried to get part of the bill paid by State or other funding? Speak to the business office at your Hospital and ask about assistance programs you might qualify for. I doubt that the collection agency is reporting this on your credit reports, if they are, you MAY have some recourse under your State's medical privacy act.
