i wrote this to keep for my records.... check it out
this is the first time ive ever had to deal with a collections agency and needless to say i hope its my last.

approximately 430 pm on Thurs. June 10, 2004 I recieved a call from a "mr alexander" who claimed to be with "..........& associates" (said the first part too fast, it was unintelligible) and was representing ' -----------" for an unpaid debt of 83 dollars and something cents. i got scared thinking he was a lawyer so i thought to myself alright well i better listen. he was extremely rude and unprofessional to me. i told him i was unable to pay as i have no moeny on me now and the next time i get paid is on wednesday june 16, 2004. mr alexander became very hostile with me and told me that "thats not good enough, dont you have someone you trust that can give you the money" i told him maybe my dad would but if not i have no other way of getting the money before then and that the payment would have to wait until next week. he then told me that they HAVE to have the money by tomorrow, and then proceeded to give me my case number and the phone number where he could be reached. he also told me that it was stupid to have this on my credit for such a small amount of money. i then called my dad and explained my situation to him. he was unable to help me out, and told me to call them back and tell them that theyre just going to have to wait for the payment and to tell them that if they persisted in calling i was going to contact the NY state attorney general. i called mr alexander back within approx. 10 minutes. told him my dad couldnt help me out and that i will be sending the payment out next week. he said " thats not good enough, were going to have to proceed." and immediately hung up on me. i called my aunt, after being hung up on and explained the situation to her as she has dealt with this situation before. she advised me to call back and speak to a supervisor and tell him what happened. i called the agency and told the receptionist that id like to speak to a supervisor. she said for who and i said mr alexander. she puts me on hold, and then mr alexander comes on the phone and i said id like to speak to a supervisor please. he asked me my name, and i stated again that id like to speak to a supervisor. he tells me "im not going to connect you to a supervisor unless you identify yourself" i hung up and went to my aunts house. she called the agency when i got there and managed to get a supervisor on the phone. she handed the phone to me and i asked the man his name - mike thompson. mr thompson also was a bit rude to me right off the bat. i explained what happened, and told him that i am not a nasty person i am also not a hard person to get along with but i do NOT tolerate being talked to in such a rude manner, as mr alexander did. i also explained that i had talked to my dad and he was unable to help me out and that the only time i could pay was, again, on wednesday (june 16) and that even if i had the money that there was no way i could get it to them by tomorrow and he says why? and i said well you tell me how then. so he says western union like everyone else does. i told him i would have done it if i had the money but i dont so i dont know what they want me to do. i also told him i wasnt trying to run away from paying this debt, i was willing to but theres no way i can get the money until next week; it was an oversight on my part. mr thompson told me i sounded sincere but "------" has been waiting for thier money for 9 months. during this call my aunt is sitting next to me and telling me dont take thier crap, dont let them get away with being nasty to you, and obviously mr thompson heard this because he then says well someone in the background seems to have all the answers why dont you get the money from her. so i put the phone down for a minute in shock because i couldnt believe a SUPERVISOR was speaking to me in such a patronizing manner. i told my aunt what he said and gave her the phone. she tried to explain to him that i was young and have never had anything happen like this before and that i was willing to pay but didnt have money at the time. she told me that at that time, mr thompson started yelling at her and saying well you have all the answers then give her the money. and then proceeded to say to her well if you cant trust her then how are we supposed to. my aunt basically cursed him out and told him to take my name off the calling list and that all further correspondance should be done through the mail and promptly hung up on him. i could not believe i was spoken to in that manner, not only by the employee but also by his supervisor. i didnt get a name of the 'company' he works for only an 800 number.

is there any way i can find out where they are located? because i definitely want to file a complaint. im not being harassed (yet...) but i mean these people shouldnt talk to you like youre a piece of s**t . anyway if anyone can help me out, the number is 800 722 3596
