You should probably learn as much as you can about bk. Your local library will have many do it yourself books on bk. Start with nolo guide- others are good as well. Read-read-read. Educate yourself, so you don't make any fatal mistakes.

I believe there is also a link on WhyChat's site that gives you a timeline on bk.

Find a good bk lawyer when you are ready - if you are in north carolina, the avenger might help you or direct you to someone who can help you.
