Let me rephrase the whole thing. my charge card history with amex is A+++ and Amex acknowlege it and are very apologetic about the whole thing.

ONLY reason i prepaid was this: the vedor i was buying the merchandise told me that if i paid them with cash via wire trasfer it will delay my order for 2 days since their system takes that much extra time for wire transers. So i had to use CC to save 2-3 days on shipping.

My average charge with Amex has been 5-6K per month for at least 2-3 years and thats why they told me that they have no problem letting me charge 28k with one transaction but anything more than that i have to pay.

i did not hand them over the case out of shoe box, i wired it from my account. If i deposit more than 9k in cash to any back its their job to report it to feds. I have no cash deposit in my account but my point is -- its not amex headache but its my bank's responsibility.

like i said this lady from amex was more pissed than i was but said its sort of automatic on their system's part and she has no control over it.

when i prepaid them i told them exactly what i am buying and who the very famous vendor was and only authorized that vendor.

keep in mind its a charge card and not a credit card. i dont use any credit card for anything.
