Unfortunately, I was afraid of that. I know *exactly* how quickly hospital and doctor bills can add up because I faced similar amounts when my son was hospitalized a few years ago.

I think JK is right. Bankruptcy is probably your best bet, depending on your circumstances. If you can make it a few months without using *any* credit cards, it would be best. I don't think there is any way your creditors can get to your accounts that quickly. Protect your assets as quickly as you can.

Then find a good bankruptcy attorney to help you. I know it's galling to go from perfect credit to default and bankruptcy, but there is life after a BK. Your situation will actually improve in less time than just avoiding your creditors and collection agencies. Better to have peace of mind and not have them call you constantly.
