i actually gave them what they wanted since i had no problems with that. only reason one would use a charge card is for security and manageability and usual benefits thats comes with gold or platinum card. i agree that it has something to do with new Patriot act. but i am not going to use my amex again, it left a bitter taste in my mouth. i mean if i am buying m&m's for any amont of money why would there be any red flag for that, with the money paid directly out of a years old checking account. but the message according to amex's own rep. is never pre-pay otherwise amex will always would do this,, and he had no clue why and was baffled just like myself. mk_378 is right about 'Closed by credit grantor' point, amex did tell me that they would do that if i dont do as they ask.
