Experian Problem -- Please Help!

I have an alleged debt (it has been under dispute and I have stacks of correspondence) that dates back to April, 1997. The debt was sold to a CA in Nov. 2001 and the CA is reporting this Nov. date as the date of deliquency which means it will stay on my report until 2008. This only shows up on Experian; neither Transunion nor Equifax have reported it. Experian is claiming that this is OK and that the date the CA received the account marks the date of deliquency. I am claiming that the date of delinquency is the date of the last activity on the original debt. Shouldn't this be removed because A. It is still under dispute (this is the 2nd CA to have this account) and B. It is past the 7 year reporting period?
Thanks for your help!
