They are not bothering you? Do absolutely nothing. You are within SOL, the 0 balance on your Sears account indicates that Sherman bought the debt. If and when they start calling, ignore them. CAs lie and threaten, that's the way they do business. Watch caller ID, let the machine pick up. Whatever works for you. If you have ever paid Sears with your current checking account, they have your banking info. I would suggest that you go to a different bank NOW. They can do absolutely nothing to you until they get a judgement against you. The one exception is that if they can convince a judge that you will take money out of the bank in order to avoid paying your debt, they can possible freeze, but not seize your account. This is rare though. If you have other bad credit you might want to consider bk. Otherwise lie low. The phone is their tool, take it away from them. Do not communicate with them. Paying them will do nothing good for your credit report.
