Charged off checking accounts are handled just like charged off credit card debts.....they WILL turn the account to a collection agency. The big banks usually try collecting right away. Smaller banks sometimes wait longer to try to get you to pay the debt. I'm not sure if the 180 day deliquency applies to banks like it does credit card debt. IF the bank has not turned the account over to a CA, you can work with the bank and pay the amount charged off.
