I am not a Florida Resident, but I thought Florida had an 4 yr sol on open accounts. If so It is non collectible, and as you said they never validated. They cannot legally collect on it as I understand it. Not sure when it will fall of your credit report, here in Ohio it is 7 years, not to be confused with sol for collection, two different SOLs. I doubt they have any records to back up anything, and besides it is legally uncollectible, past the SOL for bringing legal action.
This is just another fine example of how us taxpayers are getting screwed over by the banks, who are being the watchdog for all the credit card companies, and yet they chose to screw one over, on a past debt that you legally no longer owe.
Go figure.
