They can not put a lien on ANYTHING without filing a lawsuit and getting a judgment.

Since you are NOT a signatory on the account, you can NOT be sued.

I suggest you send any one who is calling you, or writing you a very nice letter stating that you husband died on xxxx that there was no estate, that you are not responsible for the account, and that any further calls will be recorded and turned over to your State's Attorney General's Office for violations of the FDCPA and Unfair Business Practices Act.

Make sure you preface the letter as follows:

Re: Account # in the name of (husband's name)
This is not a refusal to pay, but a notice that your claim is disputed and a request that you cease and desist all collection activities.
