New date of last activity

I recently purchaced a new home and was forced to pay some of my old debts. One creditor has now reset the date of last activity to last month. this debt was about 3 years old and now it looks like im gonna have to live w/it for another 7 years.....did i screw up or is there something i can do? please help...thanks Soapy
