I really don't know which letters are best. CAs lie and threaten. It is the way they do business, communicating with a CA is a big mistake. Don't let them know that you care. If they do report, and get your CRs and see if they are reporting. If so, go from there. You can consult with a consumer attorney and possibly get them for TILA, or you can just dispute with the CRAs.
