It's a possibility that the SOL letter alone will keep them from putting their own tradeline on your report. And they CANNOT legally put their tradeline on your report while Midland's is still there.

Send the SOL, because if they feel squirreley and decide to sue, you've put them on notice that the SOL has expired. Filing suit would open them up to sanctions for filing a frivolous lawsuit if you have proof that they're aware of the expired SOL.

But they won't sue if you let them know you're an informed consumer who will fight them in court. :-) You can dispute any entries in your credit report with the follow-up letter to the CRA's.
