What state are you in? No, they can not take your personal property. Truth of the matter is that our personal property just isn't worth much at sheriff sale. They will be looking at garnising your salary, if you have a good job and they know about it. Your bank accounts. House, but you don't have any equity, so that is safe. Post your state, and I will post your exemptions. You might be judgement proof. AND, I would definitely ask another attorney about chapter 7. CAs lie and threaten. It is the way they do business. There is a lot of psychology in debt collection. They will try to scare you, embarass you, humiliate you. Whatever it takes to get to you. Just don't let them get to you.
