First of all, when was the last time you paid the original creditor BEFORE the account became deliquent? N.C. has a short SOL of only 3 years. So, if it's been more than three years since you last paid the ORIGINAL CREDITOR, this could be passed the SOL.

These are your exemptions. N.C. is a tenants by the entirety state, is this debt in both of your names (is this a joint account)? You say "the 5th as put a judgement on us" Did you received notice of a law suit? Did they get a default judgement? They can not just put a judgement against you. They will have had to file a law suit,(you would have been served with notice of the law suit) and they will have had to go to court and been awarded a judgement. DON'T DO ANYTHING YET. Wait for advice from the pros here. No, they can not take your household belongings. The value of your household items at sheriff sale is very little. Not worth the taking actually, and look at your exemptions from the link I gave you. The land is exempt, because it is your homestead, the wheel chair is exempt (health aid) Are you absolutely sure they have a judgement against you?
