Also if you are not in a community property state, they can't touch your husband or his assets anyways, so why even divorce him for this reason. Your SSDI is exempt. His income is exempt unless the bills are in his name. If they are not, they can do nothing. When they sue you and get a judgment, you just have to file your exemptions with the court. THe judgment more than likely will sit there at the courthouse and rot until you suddenly win the lottery and come into money. And that is assuming that you are even sued. More than likely they will pull your credit report and do an asset search, see nothing and will more than likely relegate your account to be sold to collection agencies and the collection agencies will call you and make your life miserable which will be the only power that you have.

I see no earthly reason to divorce your husband because of a lawsuit.
