I ask because I suggest you don't go to a consolidation company because we did and we weren't told the truth. They said it won't ruin our credit but it did. Basically they say that you can pay off your debt to a cc in lesser years, but there it stands out on your credit report like a sore thumb. They are usually not truthful, and they make you think that it is good. My husband's credit score was 650 but because of the Consolidation company, no one wanted to touch us. If you have a house get equity from the house first and see if that is enough to pay off credit card debt.
DO NOT use a consolidation company.
