Thanks to those of you that responded in the What's this mean thread below. I found out what the charges are for and I'm MAD! I used to have AT&T cable, but when we moved from Dallas to Ft. Worth, AT&T did not service our area so we had to switch providers. Between the move and the less than stellar service of the Dallas Post Office, any followup mail from AT&T on cancelling the account was lost. So, now AT&T is bought out by Comcast and they catch up with me at the new address and send me a collections bill for $415. $89.82 is for the last month cable service, $325 for the equipment that was never returned. So, after numerous phone calls, I finally get an address of where I can return the box. So I pack it up, along with the $89 to pay off the account. This was a month ago (today when Comcast cashed the check) and I have not heard one peep outta them. Then, from Experian, I get this notice that I have something placed on the Public Records of my credit report. No clue, hence the posts below. When I got home from work, I went online and paid $9 to run my Transunion report (don't mind really, I needed to get a copy anyway). And there it sits IN REGULAR COLLECTIONS! Seems the collection agency is the one that ran it again. So I disputed the charge with transunion and am awaiting the results. Is there anything else I can do other than dispute the account with all 3 CRA's?
