i am being sued by a law firm on behalf of Chase for $7000 + $1500 attorney fees.
they sent me a summons and now i guess i have to get a court date. they will settle for just over half the amount, but i cannot pay it, ioffered to pay $100 a month but they said it wasn't enough and refused the payment. I seriously don't have any money and want to pay off the debt, but i can't seem to get ahead with this.
do i have any rights re: amount of payment? Should i go to court? Is it even fair? Will they freeze my bank account etc? Should i spend the money on a lawyer?
