the meeting seems to be with the Ca lawyer and a judge..seems quite unfair to me..but it happens. you wont know till something bounces, unless a pal who works there tells ya. seems to be a crappy tactic, i think. they wont TAKE the money till after a judgement..and after more papers are filed to seize it. somehow taking money for a debt you dont owe to them..is easy money to them and a goal to others to simply feel powerful and wreak havoc on strangers. i think a lot of debt collection attracts insecure people who need their power from hurting strangers. it happens more in states where they cant garnish wages, but i think it depends on what the OC says..they may be told get this money anywhere, any way you can. they know the lawyers they hire are the ones who have no conciences and will do it. my pal in tenn woke up one morning to her account frozen. right after they got paid. amazingly...they were watching activity on her account also. seems a violation of privacy, to me. but a bank is not on your side at all. learned that the hard way too.
