If you're in NC, the SOL on collecting is 3 years. If you're past that, you cannot be made to pay by legal means. Now, of course they will stay on your credit for about 4 more years, but they're probably not hurting your score if they've been just sitting around for 3 years. I would just ignore them and find a way to dispute it with the credit bureau if it truly has been 3 years and you opened the accounts while in NC.
