To answer your first question. The "Florida Killing Fields" are a minefield of trouble, for debtors. This is allegedly a debtor-friendly state, with Homestead exemption, among others.
Seems in recent years, however, scumbag bile-breath whisky-sot CA lawyers get away with murder.
Unless you need credit clean for mortgage, maybe wise to sit tight. Debts won't 'fall off' for a few years. You are on edge of 4 year SOL for lawsuits, but know that in "The Florida Killing Fields", predatory collectors routinely sue on five year old debt, claiming cards are written-contract. Why? They get away with it. Courtesy of Ol' Judge Cracker, Rufus "Bud" Reitzel's (of AssXXXX Acceptic Crap-o-ration) alleged Dog-track pally.
Let sleeping dogs lie, expecially since CA's haven't rudely pestered you. Time passes, SOL slips away, you're out of woods.
If you push to clean report, and they sue, all not lost. Call lawyer, many on this board can recommend good ones for your area. Saves you grief, lets both scumfly CA and Judge Cracker know you're not to be trifled with, you know your rights, you'll fight to defend them.

Triflingly,

Keyser Soze
