I too have heard a few horror stories, but mostly things are easy and go smoothly. This is more normal than the few horror stories.
In my case, I was in a small room with the trustee, my husband and my attorney. There was a tape recorder. I was sworn in with my right hand up. I had to state my name, address and so forth. I guess the main question was if the info submitted on my paper work was correct. Was I involved in any litigation at this time. Now, I made a mistake, and said no...because I had been sued. But, the attorney mentioned the law suit, and it was clarified that the law suit had been stopped by the bk. The trustee actually asked my attorney about that. Maybe I was wrong, but I felt that he was making sure. I am in a tenants by the entirety state, and I filed using state (not federal) exemptions. So, the trustee asked about my house, the value of it, and who decided the value of it, and who I owned the house with. Of course, this question was to determine that I owned the house with my husband and that "tenants by the entirety" applied to me. That was pretty much it. Don't think it took more than 10 minutes or so. My attorney told us to wait. He had another couple and when they were done (another 10 minutes or so in the waiting room) My attorney came out and told us that the trustee was recommending discharge. He advised us that the trustee COULD request for info. I received my discharge via mail about 4 months later, maybe 3 1/2, and that was that. I am in a large city, so I think that is why it took a little longer. Non of my creditors showed up. I was wondering about the CA that sued me, but they were not there. Creditors rarely show up at the creditor's meeting. I was in a waiting room full of people, and I watched as people (couples) went into the little room. I saw no creditors at all. Hope this helps.
