Move your checking and savings accounts from the bank to whom you owe money. Many times there is a cross-collateralization clause that would allow them to freeze your checking and savings if other accounts default.

I don't know how to deal with your bank, but with credit card companies, I think it's best you not talk to them at all. You don't want to admit to charging while knowing you couldn't pay it back, nor admit to charging while thinking about bankruptcy. If you do end up filing bankruptcy, they could object to discharge of debts based on what you tell them. So don't talk to them at all. There's no way they will stop interest for 6 months anyway.
