It sounds like they are letting you know they are now in possession of the debt. Somewhere on it should be a notice that says you have 30 days to dispute the claim in writting or they will assume the debt is valid. Send them written notice that you want validation of the debt. Why Chat's website has a letter you can use and what to demand from them. You can find his website's address at the bottom of the posts on this page and the subject line is all caps. Check out all of Why Chat's website, you will find a bunch of helpful info. Just DON'T call Midland or talk to them if they call you until you figure out what is the best thing for you to do. I don't talk to them at all, ever. Midland will try to talk you into doing something that is NOT in your best interest. People here will help you sort it all out, we are all in same boat.
