This is a seven year-old debt, far beyond the SOL for even a written contract in FL. You could have defended yourself last year, if you had known how.

JK is right, your best bet is to get the default judgment vacated on the basis that it was beyond the SOL when the lawsuit was filed. But since you received notice of the suit and failed to show up, this will NOT be an easy thing to accomplish. You will probably need the assistance of an attorney.

Get the information you need from Why Chat's website (the information on lawsuits beyond the statute of limitations) and read up on what you need to know. That will put you in a position to help the attorney understand what is at stake.
