Also in some districts, it is not required to actually serve you to get a valid service. If they could not find you at the old address, all they have to do is publish the item in a newspaper at your last known address and that would suffice as proper notification. So it is important that you look at the rules of service in your district.

If they properly serve you by newspaper or pinning the thing to your door, they can go forward with the case even if you don't know about it.
