Hope someone can help me! Received letter from collection agency. I called them. I thought I pd/closed acct. in 89/90 but collection agency said that the acct. was opened 12/87, closed by c.c.company 5/93. The c.c.company sold the acct. to the collection agency in 97. Now from what I've been reading, isn't this acct. too old to collect? It's been 8 years, I say closed for 11yrs. but have no records to prove it. Do I tell them to jump in the lake? Make a settlement? but then will it go on my report, but if it does, the acct. is still too old to be listed on credit report, right? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, get this, they said the acct. was closed with balance of $718, but balance now is $1998, but would accept $1328. Please help my Obi-Wan!
