If your girlfriend has the cancelled check (with the information stampted on the back showing when and where it was deposited), then bring it in to your bank (at the branch where your account is based), and that should hopefully prove to them that the money did originally go through OK. Perhaps she might also ask her bank for a letter confirming that they did pay the check to your bank, and maybe have someone there prepared to confirm this by phone, in case your bank calls.

If your girlfriend doesn't have the cancelled check, she should be able to request a copy from her bank (might cost a couple of bucks for the copy.)

Also bring in your bank statement showing the deposit as further evidence that your bank did originally present the check to her bank, and that it did clear the first time.
