assignment of judgement

About 8 years age a credit card company got a judgement against me for a delinquent account. Recently I got a letter from a collection agency claiming that they bought the account. There was no reference to the judgement. Records with the county clerk still show the original creditor as the party to the judgement, not the collection agency. Was the original creditor satisfied by the sale of the account? Does the CA have to file with the county clerk in order to enforce the judgement?
