I am a gay man and lived with another man for 6 years. That ended 4 years ago. During this time, he had an AMEX card issued in my name on his existing account. I am thinking I was only an authorized signer.

When we split up, he had me removed as a signor on the card. Since that time, he ran up some charges and then apparently when delinquent on them. They are in collection now (with an agency) and are at least 2 years old. Today I got a call from the credit agency wanting me to pay the bill. I did not make the charges for one thing, but am I legally obligated to pay this collection. The guy at the agency told me yes.

What I do know, is that the card showed up on my credit record, but as recently as a couple months ago, the account showed I had been removed as a signer (read on), with no bad credit reporting.
