Hello,
Well, I don't know the reason why you can't go to court, but it is in your best interests to show up, or have someone show up representing you. When did you retain these attorneys who are representing you? Will they go to court for you?

If you or someone representing you) do not go to court, a judgment will be automatically etered against you by default (because no one was there to represent you). They can get a court order to make you tell them where you bank, where you work, what assets you have, etc. and then take whatever the law allows them to take (depends on your situation), including garnishing your wages, freezing your bank accounts, getting a lien on any property you own.

If you or someone representing you, shows up for the hearing, the judge will automatically ask the creditor (Citibank) to work with you to settle the debt.

Can you answer a few questions?
1. When did this account first become delinquent?
2. Have you made any payments on it since it became delinquent?
3. Have you received any other correspondence prior to this about this debt since it became delinquent?

If you want to email this info to me, feel free. I am in Virginia, and I have been there.

Linda

: I got a warrant in debt from a lawyer representing Citibank for 905.82 plust costa and attorney fees. I already enlisted teh services of the Daly Law centers to settle my accounts.
: I cannot go to court next friday to deal with it, the warrant says i do not have to go and the law centers said i do not have to go. I really just want to settle the account with 5 installments of 200 dollars over 5 pay periods.
: I'm in virginia and really don't know what to do. The law centers said they would look at the papers and talk to Citibank's attorneys, but that they would get back to me "before next friday" the court date is then. What exactly is the warrant in debt ? Will a judge decide when and how i will pay and how much, or will his decision just mean that Citibank has the legal right to recover their money, and that from there on out i can come up with a payment schedule with them?

: I can't afford more than 200 a month since i have other bills to pay. PLEASE HELP!

: thanks
