Maybe you should find a lawyer in our area that offers a free first consultation and ask them. You wouldn't be required to hire them and they would know all the laws that concern your issue. Another place to check would be at Legal Aide or call the AG of your state, like cat suggested. It is better to be safe than sorry, especially when you are dealing with something that could cost you over $2000.00.
