When calling a creditor today to offer them a settlement amount that I could pay by the end of the month, they refused to deal with me unless I gave them a post-dated check. Once I told them I was not comfortable doing this and promised them the total 5,000 by the end of July, they said they would note my account as "refusal to pay" and became nasty. They told me I better find myself a good attorney because they were taking me to court. Isn't it illegal for them to require a post-dated check and also marking my account as "refusal to pay" because I didn't want to give a post dated check??
