We are at the end of the lease and for the last 6 months Bank One has been harrassing us every month by calling and asking if we are going to buy the vehicle out. What part of NO do they not get? We repeatedly asked them to stop calling and they just flat refused. One month the woman refused to talk to me (said her records didn't have me as an authorized person to speak to) about the joint account. Funny thing - customer service had all the right info. I told her she would talk to me or she would talk to NO ONE and she could stuff the Federal Privacy Act. The car is mine, registered to me, insured by me, paid for by me, and titled jointly to me and my husband. His name appeared first on the documents so I guess that makes me invisible. Once we are thru with them I plan to file a complaint with the FTC about their refusal to stop calling.
My husbands car is also a lease - thru Chase. They have started the same crap - calling every month with 6 months left on the lease. Last week they went even further and sent a full blown purchase package all completely filled in and ready to sign. My husband told them we hadn't made a decision yet about buying the car and this is what we get! I think it's pretty high handed of them to go that far without our consent.
My husband called them - they said sorry. We asked them to stop calling - sure, but oh my computer is down, let me transfer you to someone else to take care of that - then busy signal.
This must be the new marketing tactic for lease vehicles to keep them from having to take them back.
