Since they want you to buy out the car so badly, you are in a position to offer a lower price. See what they think of that. Check the book value of your car and make an offer that makes it a reasonable bargain for you. Realize that they'll only get approximately the wholesale price from the dealer after you return it. That's why they are trying to sell it to you now for retail price.

If you return the car to the dealer, you are likely to get charged extra for mileage (check original terms and be sure it's under the allowed maximum miles) and/or "damage", real or imagined. They really are in a position to "fleece" you.
