others will be along with more legal advice but a settlement you pick..not them by "your assets" dont tell or volunteer ANYTHING unless ordered by court and a judge. they want those assets to see how much to fleece you for or how much to sue you over and if you have it. dont tell them NOTHING. AU are not liable. send copies of his death cert to them and they will file against a estate, if there is one. well, unless its a community property state..then another will know more on that one.. NO, do not disclose any assets PERIOD. ha ha ,,dont even buy into that crap their feeding you. they can find a car on the credit reports..and a house..negotiating a settlement is very hard and tricky. you will need a 1099c for each balance over 600 they forgive....and a paid in full letter...stating the terms 100% or they will sell the balance to someone else. be very careful doin this. research it a lot. but..no but HELL NO dont tell them a thing. they have no business knowing anything about you. you want a settlement ..for them to think this is all they will get. really hard to accomplish. how old are the debts? if their current..i cant see them settling at all. hang on and others will tell you the legal sides of this one. im sorry for your loss.
