You said you were served? You must check right away to see if a suit was actually brought and if so, you must answer. Check with your local court clerk -- if you were, the info is there. I am hoping since a lawyer drafted your answer -- he checked to make sure it was real.

If they sent you something just to make you think you were served -- get a lawyer, you will probably get some money. Go back to that same lawyer and see if he will sue them on a contingency basis. That means he only gets paid a piece of what he wins for you.

Making a couple of payments to a CA does not reset the SOL. You have to sign an agreement with a lot of details.

The SOL for Texas is 4 years. Make sure you are using SOL in your answer.

It seems just recently the TX AG is getting involved finally in credit and collection troubles.

File complaints with the TX AG, FTC, OCCC, the Bar Assoc since lawyers are involved and they should know better about filing a frivolous lawsuit.
