Somebody pulled a fast one. That is all I can say. Yes, a default judgement is issued when the defendent does not show up for court. If at all possible your husband should get legal advice.
Just to be on the safe side. PROTECT YOUR BANKING INFO. Go to a different bank and open an account with you as primary. Your homestead is protected in Texas and they can not garnish wages. Your bank account is the fastest and easiest target for them at this point. Just be careful. Better safe than sorry. He should be able to get this taken care of, but it will take time, don't take anything for granted. Protect yourself. I think you have to file your exemptions. Cat, can tell you more about that in Texas.
