i would think yes, but there is a procedure for this. during probate..each creditor or person claiming against the estate must show in court on a specified time and day.(thats why you notify them each of the death and probate thing).showing proof why they are owed this. if they dont show..they are SOL and i dont mean statute. am i right, whychat? i think so..but maybe each state is diff. its not just a automatic "hey he owes me..pay me thing." they need proof ..of amounts..of debts truly owed, contracts. dont just pay on a say-so thing. if your executor..the courts here helped me with it..a clerk actually..so you might ask yours. i wouldnt just pay anything on his credit report off hand..like that. make them prove he owed it and the amounts. its a court thing. they have to claim against the estate. in writing. in person. or so it was here...shrug* dont give away any more of his hard earned money than you have to. he meant that for his kids and grandkids..im sure. the court should have a paperwork thing you go by..putting the estate money in a account..and as its paid out..you have to account to the court for each penny. i take it you are the executor?
