Authorized User Confusion

I talked to my lawyer today because I was authorized user on my deceased husband's cards. We have a home - jointly. I used some of the cards while he was alive. I haven't touched a single one since his death. The lawyer said to wait it out and see what happens - it depends on the credit card application. I never signed anything. Is there a chance they can sue me to pay them?
