I agree. I never have understood such high dollar weddings but 70K is outrageous. Gawd, just take a small portion of that and spend it on a nice honeymoon instead! 70K!!! In my neck of the woods, you can buy a pretty nice house with that! A perfect starter home for newlyweds! Don't do this to yourself. I know that overseas marriages are expensive cuz my dad married a foreigner. All the money it took flying back and forth...keeping up a residence in that other country...and while he resided part of the year there...he wasn't allowed to work or earn any kind of income. PLUS all the paperwork and government red tape in both countries cost him a small fortune, for which he is deeply in debt now from it. He put most of his stuff on credit cards too. It is a financial disaster! Have you done all your homework on how much it is going to cost you to set up a residence there, plus all the costs it's going to take for her to come here and visas and all that jazz. Especially if you are dealing with a shady country! heh.
