We live in Michigan. The last payment that was made to the original creditor was probably November of 2003. The consolidation company said that my husband didn't have to pay that last payment, but he did anyhow, that was a bunch of balony. The rest of the payments were being made to the consolidation company that were going to the OC. The 3 delinquent payments that got reported to the credit bureau were because of the CC not fully arranging with the OC that the payments would be made at a later date than when the payments were originally due. We continued to get bills from the OC even after the CC had taken over. Does that help? By the way, when I told my husband that you can arrange with the OC to settle, we got into a big fight over it all and he won't do anything of this that I tell him anyhow, so this is for my knowledge. He also thinks that if we stay put in our condo for how ever long, that we can continue to take equity from the condo to one day be debt free. I told him that I think it is a bad idea. Besides this one account that we are trying to rid of we have about another 10G in credit card debt not including about a 7G loan from the bank. SO YAH I say we are pretty screwed.
