In this case, I wouldn't ignore the letter. A LOCAL law firm, hired by Sherman CAN sue you. The letter could very well be their first attempt to collect before suing. I do believe that the validation demand is the best course if you really don't know what it is they're after.

Sherman DOES sue after they retain local lawyers, they're all over the court docket here.
