If you are in NY, and acquired the debt in NY and defaulted in NY, then I need to know the following. What happened to the lawsuit? Do you have a filed and entered default judgment against you in NY?
If a judment was NOT entered, what was the disposition of the case?
When did you last pay Discover on the account WHILE IT WAS STILL IN USE? If a default judgment was entered against you, then whomever has contacted you is certainly not the same party who obtained it, as they would be seeking to enforce it, not threatening to file suit. I suggest you send the FIRST letter on my website to the "lawyer" ( I bet the initials of the lawfirm are C & S). You are judgment proof,there is NO WAY you need to send them a red cent.
