Lawyers who act as debt collectors ARE bound by the FDCPA. Per the FDCPA and the FTC, it is a violation of the law for a collector to call your family and neighbors to bug you IF they already have your contact information. As already noted, they can NOT reveal the nature of the call and they cannot discuss your business with anyone else who is not a spouse.
