I have been harassed by Byck for the better part of last year. I eventually filed bk but it was due to numerous other bills, not just Byck. Like the previous poster said, you need to assess your own situation. As for Byck, they don't obey the law so trying to get them to abide by it is useless. What worked for me with them is to tell them you are taping all calls and documenting all contacts, that will make them a little more law abiding, but still not totally. I looked into them and checked them out and it looks like they RARELY actually sue anybody. They seem to get sued themselves quite a bit, though. My best advice to you would be to send them a certified limited cease and desist letter advising them to never contact you at work and ignore them the rest of the time. You could try to negotiate smaller payments if that would work for you but beware if you speak to them at all, they are sleazy.
