Anything is possible, but it's highly improbable that a payment would stop things now. More than likely, the CA will demand full payment to avoid going to trial. Or they might offer a payment plan for the full amount in return for signing a consent judgment (which is the same as getting it forced on you...except you'll probably pay LESS if it's forced on you). But are you sure she is even legally liable for this alleged debt? Has she checked the SOL for her state? (See Why Chat's site link in the "Newcomers" post for further details.)
