Hello:

I have a collection agency (Honor Creditors Agency) who is harassing me about a debt that is over 9 years old. I purchased a house last year and everything was fine on the credit reports. This January (20004) Honor Creditors is now listed as a collections on all 3 credit reports. In February they actually ran a credit report. They are not the original debtor (Avco Financial is and the last payment was made in 1995). I have all previous credit reports and the Avco account was charged off in 1995 and removed from all 3 reports in Dec. 2002. I have faxed Honors and stated the debt is past SOL and has been reaged. They will not reply via fax. I refuse to call them, so now they have resorted to calling everyone in the phone book with the same last name. Today, they reached my sister and left a nasty message. They also spoke with her in person and stated "we know you know where he is, so we will continue to call you and leave messages until he returns our call." What can I do? They have never sent me a letter. I do not want to send a letter with my new address (but I am sure they have if from pulling my credit report).

Has this been illegally reaged and how do I go about removing it from my credit. OC charged off in 1995, removed from credit in 2000. Now it shows as a collection in 2004. How is this possible and how do I get rid of these people. I live in NC and may need a consumer lawyer, but would like to handle myself if possible. Please advise and thank you all in advance.
